PS: We have success!!!!!

And here is the flower from Russell =)

Baking

So I decided that since I was really bored and depressed yesterday, I would not be like that today. I decided to be productive and get stuff done around the house. Managed to get the dishes that have been sitting in the sink for 3 days done. =) Russell did the laundry. =) =) =) He deserves three star stickers or something. I got Kit's Christmas present mailed off to him :-O oops. Just a little late is all. Russell and I then had a nice lunch at P.F. Changs. Quite good food. Next it was Russell's turn to mail a package. While I waited in the car, he snuck into the florist's next door and bought me a cute yellow rose. With a vase, so we now have two. A quick run to the store where I forgot to get cupcake papers, Liquid Plummer and frozen veggies. Oh well. A quick stop to CVS to get some pictures printed and we were home. I put the photos in the frame and hung it on the wall. So nice. Then I turned on the oven and set to making a crustless quiche. Trying to be healthly-minded, I cut back on the bacon, sauteed the leeks in vegetable oil and a pat of butter and used 3 egg whites instead of the 2 egg yokes the recipe called for. I put it in the oven and the wait was on. At 40 minutes it didn't look set, so I put it back in for 10 more minutes. At 50 minutes it STILL didn't look set, so I upped the oven tempurature and set the timer AGAIN. Another 10 minutes. I just checked it now.... And thought, maybe I should use a knife in the center to see if it's cooked all the way. And lo and behold!!!! It was set. But just to make sure, it's in there for another 5 minutes. I've made quiche before, but the recipe I used ended up with too much spinach and not enough egg. So keep your fingers crossed that this one turns out. So far so good. As for the attempt at butter making, that will have to wait until next weekend, as I will be out of town this weekend and then working again on Saturday. ...... Later tonight, funfetti cupcakes with turquiose icing. =)

Trying but not succeeding.

So I wanted to try and make butter from fresh milk. The only place I know to get farm fresh milk is the Amish Market in Easton. Too bad for me it's open until 3pm on Saturdays. And I got off work today at 3. Maybe next week?

It's been a while

So I feel the need to post. Since the last time (in December!) I've had Christmas, New Years, a few baby Paul visits, a Cruise to the Bahamas, and Valentine's Day. Oh and two blizzards. The holidays were great. I had to work Christmas, but my family was still around the day after so Russell and I went to my parents for presents and family dinner. It was nice. Paulie enjoyed playing with the bows, but didn't so much appreciate Russell thinking HE was a present. Although I certainly think he was, a year ago. No pictures from New Year's but we spent it with Russell's family playing Wii bowling and enjoying ourselves. We saw the ball drop then dunked ourselves in the hot tub for a few minutes before heading to bed. I got to go skiing for the first time this year with my mom, and younger brothers. It was quite the adventure. By the end of the second day, I was not falling down at all. I also found that skiing with ski poles didn't make a difference. In fact, they hindered me. This is the view of the Black Diamond slopes from my mom's bedroom window. We walked there everyday to ski. This in at Wisp Ski Resort in Deep Creak, MD. On the drive out, it started snowing on us as we passed through Frostburg and it really didn't stop until the last day my family was out there. I had to leave a day early to head back to work. Russell and I had a trip up to see Gina, Paul and the baby. My cousin Megan was able to bring her little sister over to visit as well. We had a great time. Russell and Paul went out Wii shopping. Russell and I had enjoyed the Wii so much at his parents house we decided that it was a good investment for us. (It was as a few weeks later we had a bunch of people over for drinks and a bowling party)Paulie can walk on his own but he goes faster if he holds onto someones finger. At the end of the month, Russell, his sister Heather, myself, and our friends Steven, Becky, Jeff and Patrick all went on a cruise out of Baltimore to the Bahamas. Because I still can't finger out how to upload pictures without trouble, I'm not going to post cruise pictures. They are loaded onto Facebook so if you would like to view them there you can. We had a great time. I was sea sick a few days but with the help of a medication called Meclizine, I was good to go. We stopped in Port Canaveral and headed to Coco Beach and Ron Jon's Surf shop. We stopped at a Tiki Bar on the Coco Beach pier and had a good time with the bar tender, Bill. I enjoyed a massage Russell bought me for Christmas. Our next port was Nassua in the Bahamas. We took a little tour boat out to a secluded lagoon called the Blue Lagoon Island where we got to rest in hamocks, explore the island and swim in the Caribbean. The water was a bit chilly, but the boys braved it and swam around for an hour. Some alcohol shopping was done by the boys on our way back to the ship, while us girls really just wanted showers. =) We passed the night by going out to Senor Frog's (a popular American bar chain found strickly in the Caribbean) and enjoying the nightlife. Our ship sailed at 10:00 pm and by 8:30 pm we were all so hungry and knew we could get free food on the boat that we headed back. Not the most crazy night out, but still it was good. The next day our port to Freeport was cancelled due to high winds and rough seas. So we headed back. And a good thing too. This is when we found out that a blizzard was headed to the DC-Baltimore area. We got back just in time to shovel our driveway and prepare for the NEXT blizzard that was coming. This is Sunday, February 8th.
And this is Wednesday, February 11th. We got a lot of snow. The good thing was, I didn't have to work until the next day. The bad thing was all the roads I had to drive on were covered in snow drifts taller than my truck. And I don't have a little car anymore. So they were huge! Luckily I made it to work and had a good day. I haven't uploaded anymore pictures since the snow but I will work on that today since I don't have to work till tomorrow. Valentine's Day, some more home improvements and possibly a photo montage of cruise pictures. If I can figure it out. Oh and one more thing.... I'm looking at getting a new set of knives. My are so dull and flimsy that they won't even cut the wrapper off of cookie dough or things like that. Does anyone have any suggestions for a brand of good knife? I have been looking at William-Sonoma and their brands then looking to see if I can find those same ones cheaper. The problem is black or silver handled knives are boring. Anyway, have wonderful day.
