Its time for a change

About a month ago I realized that I would be spending the next eight weeks in a house by myself. What was I to do? I could laze around and re-read all my trashy novels (done this already once) or I could make myself a project. I dumped my plans on R. I was going to paint the house! In a WEEK! Oh, and I was going to hire my brother who would be on spring break. After a few months of trying to pick out colors (I didn't want to paint my house green to match my green couch and chair) we settled on a turquoisish-light green for the living room and hallway and a periwinkle blue for the kichen. I wanted to have each room a different color since our house is so small. I needed the separation. K came on monday and we started with the ceiling. We painted all day and even had to call in back up in the form of my mom and youngest brother. It was his first painting experience and we let him do the ceiling all by himself. For the most part. We finished the day by starting the cut-ins for the green walls. After three days of painting, the ceiling was done, the walls were done, the trim was done, and half of the doors were done. I spent all day Friday putting the house back together and putting the pictures on the walls.

Here is our kitchen before. Forgive the fact these are from 2008. I forgot to take "Before" pictures. Some things have changed. Alot.

The hallway. Very bare and blank and boring.

Because I had to actually go to to work and stuff, and K decided that after a week of being home he really wanted to go back to school, I didn't finish everything in a week. It took me two. But if you counted up the days I actually spent painting, it was five. I finished the doors by myself and by bestest Fellow North County Gangsta came and helped me with my bathroom. I managed to lock us in the bathroom. Good thing there was a window cause we would have been stuck there till six pm when R got home and could let us out. Yes, I jumped through the window to save our lives. It was only five feet off the ground. N kept painting. We giggled about it later.

I painted the last bathroom by myself. It took me three hours. But now I am done. .... Until I tackle the bedrooms. Ours is painted. The other two are not. But they are full of office stuff and bedroom stuff and will not get painted for another three to five years, I'm sure.
